Ahmad Moualla
"Porcelain is born of fire. Without highfiring kilns it would not exist. Vibrant candlelight creates three-dimensional reflections on porcelain pots. Flickering light engenders motion in painted scenes and brings the gilded surface to life."
Ahmad Moualla, born in Syria in 1958, lives and works in Qatar. Moualla studied Classical Calligraphy but initially turned to painting. While studying Graphics and Visual Communication in Damascus and Paris, he sought other forms of calligraphy and developed new types of handwriting.
Moualla is now a Professor at the University of Damascus and internationally established as a graphic artist, designer and painter. Countless posters, book covers and murals bear his artistic stamp.
