Katharina Immekus
“It is interesting relating to the classical image of Meissen porcelain and producing a contemporary mural that, when finished, is suddenly grounded in an artistic context.”
Katharina Immekus, born at Olpe in 1970, lives and works in Leipzig. She studied Painting at the College for Graphics and Printing (HGB) in Leipzig. Ms Immekus is interested in concepts such as home locality, normality and reality.
The landscapes of her childhood act as the backdrop for houses and as sources for linoleum cuts on which she creates a world of residential houses, campsites and inns in the midst of absurd pictorial montages and landscape collages.
