Major MEISSEN special exhibition: MEISSEN turns KaDeWe into the largest art gallery in Berlin
BY PUBLIC DEMAND THE SPECIAL EXHIBITION HAS NOW BEEN EXTENDED BY A FURTHER WEEK TO 21 MAY.
More than 51 TV, radio and print journalists accepted an invitation by KaDeWe and the MEISSEN® Manufactory to attend the opening of a major MEISSEN® special exhibition in Europe’s largest luxury department store. The MEISSEN® Manufactory will be presenting its brand in virtually all of KaDeWe’s shop windows as well as on some 5,000 square feet of prime ground-level floorspace over a 5-week period ending on 15 May.
On show are items from the tercentenary collection of limited MEISSEN® Artworks as well as new gift settings for fine dining and interior design and selected items from the new MEISSEN® jewellery collection.
In her brief welcoming address, the head of KaDeWe, Mrs Vierkötter, said what an “honour” it was “for the 102-year-old Berlin department store KaDeWe to host MEISSEN® as part of the celebrations to mark the tercentenary of Europe’s first porcelain manufactory”. She added that the Manufactory’s product choreography was impressive even by the standards of KaDeWe’s own staff, who have plenty of experience in dealing with luxury brands.
The Managing Director of the MEISSEN® Manufactory, Dr Christian Kurtzke, began by stressing the achievements of generations of Manufactory staff and explained the secrets behind the company’s success. He then sketched out key innovations in the “Limited Artworks”, “Architecture&Interiors" and "Jewellery&Gifts" business segments to the assembled guests and indicated how he is combining tradition and innovation.
The special exhibition at the KaDeWe store is, he went on, "a unique opportunity in the heart of Berlin” for the Manufactory “to bring one of the world’s leading German luxury brands even closer to the citizens of Berlin and tourists alike in this anniversary year and, by so doing, to additionally win new customers”.
