Bacchus on a Barrel, H 45 cm

Truly royal feasts include wine and song! Ideally served by Bacchus himself, the god of wine. The boisterous god is thus enthroned on the barrel, seducing the guests to make merry in order to confound the senses. Artfully executed by master modellers these magnificent wine and coffee barrels have been produced by Meissen since 1726. The base for the upper part was modelled by Kaendler in 1741/42.
