Goblet "Dresden City Views", H 18 cm
Artists at the MEISSEN® Manufactory pass their astounding
skills down from one generation to the next and their home
has always been the realm of Augustus the Strong, the MEISSEN
Manufactory’s greatest benefactor. Our goblet recalls an age
in which Dresden was the greatest treasure chest for the “white
gold”. The King’s majestic city and its landmarks are captured
in miniaturised form on the goblet (first cast in around
1730/40). It pays tribute to a number of ecclesiastical monuments
– the Church of Our Lady and the Catholic Cathedral –
along with that infamous character, the Court Jester Fröhlich,
and the King’s golden statue. The lid is bedecked with a floral
garland in the oriental manner plus the Saxon monarchy’s
coats-of-arms. We proudly extend this goblet to lovers of the
MEISSEN® Manufactory the world over.
