Lidded Vase with Snowball Blossoms, H 50 cm

The ingenious idea of adorning vases, serving dishes and boxes with magical snowball blossoms was just one of many by MEISSEN® modeller Johann Joachim Kaendler. He first created this delightful embellishment for the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory back in 1739, and it was to become a milestone in German Baroque art. The snowball blossom vase shown here is a reinterpretation by MEISSEN® that has been inspired by an 18th century flacon shape. Its over-abundance of blossoms, each applied by hand, and its lavish gilding add up to an imperious show of unquestionable craftsmanship. This masterpiece epitomises the vast experience and skill acquired over more than three centuries of artistic activity at the Meissen Manufactory.
