Mocca Dejeuner "Plus - Minus"

Mocca Dejeuner "Plus - Minus"

A rigorous design that unites contrasts in black and white today seems almost a classic example for 1980s style. Just think of the influence of Karl Lagerfeld, Andrée Putman, or Helmut Lang. The zeitgeist was already in the air, and the artists apparently agreed on that – across borders and disciplines. Ludwig Zepner, who had been a decisive influence of the formal vocabulary of Meissen’s porcelain services and vases, also designed this ingenious service: here, form and décor intertwine in bands that run against each other, while the horizontal lines are interrupted by diagonally running angles. The apparent rigour is modelled and painted by hand! Using only the bare essentials, Zepner succeeded in creating an expressive dejeuner set that is equal to Meissen’s Baroque classics, continuing Meissen’s very special tradition in its aesthetics and artistry.
