The name of the "Vase Anemones" is derived from the Greek "anemos" - the wind. Almost two thousand years ago, the Roman scholar and general of Germania wrote the extensive scientific work "Naturalis historia", in which botany and horticulture are also important chapters. According to ancient legend, the nymph Anemona fell in love with Zephyr, the god of the wind. But Zephyr was the husband of the beautiful goddess Flora, who was unhappy and turned Anemona into a flower out of jealousy. She now listens to the wind, immortalized in elaborate hand painting on one of the oldest forms of the Meissen manufactory.
