Many epochs, from antiquity to classicism, found their admiration in the 19th century and were reinterpreted by the aspiring affluent bourgeoisie for representation - mostly in the architecture and its decoration. Ernst August Leuteritz was head of design at the porcelain manufactory for almost 40 years. He worked tirelessly on existing vessel forms and figures from the 18th century and designed wonderful objects himself with stylistic elements from the Renaissance, Rococo and Classicism. This mighty crater vase is to be understood as the grandiose essence of his time and of all styles of the manufactory.
