This egg cup is part of Johann Joachim Kaendler's iconic "Swan Service". Designed over the course of five years starting in 1737, it is the most extensive table service in the manufactory's history, comprising a total of 2,200 pieces. Given the opulence of its sculptural design, it is considered the opus magnum of Baroque table culture. The service is named after the relief of a pair of swans that adorns countless dishes and pieces of the service. The egg cup, which takes the shape of a dolphin with a seashell, is a seamless continuation of the service's leitmotif - the mythology of water. 24-carat golden accents applied by hand to the edges and contours of the cup not only highlight the dolphin's features, but also bring the opulence of the Baroque era into the 21st century.
