Vladimir Kanevsky – Eternal Flowers Edition

“Cooperating with MEISSEN® has made me part of a glorious 300-year-old tradition. Working with these incredible artists at the Manufactory has been a marvellous experience.”

The Ukrainian-American artist Vladimir Kanevsky adopts the “trompe-l’oeil” technique in his art, a style of painting that pays extraordinary attention to detail and the laws of perspective - evoking nature within an artifice – in order to deceive the eye of the beholder by rendering motifs in a three-dimensional, lifelike, well-nigh palpable manner.

Kanevsky was likewise exceedingly intent, therefore, on producing realistic flower arrangements. He fashioned all the petals by hand at the MEISSEN artCAMPUS®, joining them together to yield wholly engrossing flower-heads. He then added stems and leaves hammered out of copper. Just as in the real thing it is possible to encounter buds bursting open next to flowers in full bloom. There are also subtle traces of transience such as insect bites, broken stems or discoloured patches on the leaves to be discovered in these highly artistic works.
