Ian Davenport creates hand-painted plates at MEISSEN® in support of the South London Gallery’s education programmes

British abstract painter, Ian Davenport, known for his bold use of colour and unconventional painting processes, has created a series of hand-painted plates with the leading porcelain manufacturer Meissen. The plates, in a limited edition of 26 but each one of which is unique, are being made for the SLG Council, a group of art philanthropists who support the South London Gallery’s award-winning education programmes.  Read more »

Georg Nussdorfer rounds off the Executive at the Meissen Manufactory

Georg Nussdorfer will commence work as a second Managing Director at Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen GmbH on 12 September. Born near Salzburg, the 45-year-old Business Management graduate is a proven marketing and distribution expert with wide-ranging international experience. For 17 years Nussdorfer was active in Marketing, Product Management and Sales at Swarovski. Read more »

Meissen Porzellan® once again thrills audiences in Taiwan

Meißen/Taipei, 7 May 2016. Meissen Porzellan® has a large fan community in Taiwan. There is a long-standing tradition of many years that a master painter from Meissen® manufactory presents his craftsmanship in Taiwan in May. During this time, Meissen® collectors and enthusiasts can look on while their work of art is being created. 2016 is characterised by animal paintings, which are presented by Detlef Ritter, an experienced Meissen® artist who has been active in the manufactory for about 40 years. Contemporary art from the manufactory Meissen® – Zhou Chunya works with Meissen® porcelain for the first time

Today, the manufactory Meissen and artist Zhou Chunya presented the results of their collaboration: unique works of art formed from Meissen Porcelain®. Zhou Chunya has been among the most well known and best-selling Chinese artists for several years now. He is currently a guest at our porcelain manufactory, where he creates murals, and directs the production of his world famous "Green Dog" figurines, formed from Meissen Porcelain®. Meissen painters working with him have been carefully decorating tea sets and vases with his wonderful flower motifs. Read more »

U.S. Ambassador John B. Emerson Visits Manufactory Meissen

On April 6, U.S. Ambassador John B. Emerson visited the Porcelain Manufactory Meissen, together with his wife Kimberley Marteau, and Saxony Consul General Scott Riedmann.

As part of a tour led by General Manager Tillmann Blaschke, the visitors gained an insight into the processes taking place in each and every area of the manufactory: from historical treasures in the mould archives, to masterful porcelain painting and decorating. Read more »

Positive balance of the Ambiente for MEISSEN®

After five days at the Ambiente in Frankfurt, the most important consumer goods fair in the world, MEISSEN® has come away with an all-round positive impression. “We were able to make a number of promising new contacts, both nationally and internationally, from all over the world. We were also able to successfully revisit previous connections”, commented Tillmann Blaschke, Managing Director of the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen GmbH. “The fair was an excellent networking platform and a great opportunity to get direct feedback on the products”, he continued.

MEISSEN® at Ambiente 2016

MEISSEN® will be present again this year at the most important consumer goods fair in the world, AMBIENTE 2016 in Frankfurt. From 12 to 16 February, MEISSEN® will introduce creations that expand and enrich the range of products offered by the legendary manufactory – products that will delight clients and collectors. In addition to the current collection Limited Artworks, the company is presenting new decors in their tableware. MEISSEN® unites stylish contemporary elegance and the 300-year-old heritage of the first European porcelain manufactory, located in Saxony. In the field of porcelain jewellery, MEISSEN® will present new products that uniquely combine the craftsmanship and artistry in terms of design and painting.
