MEISSEN® at Ambiente 2018: Manufactory presents design innovations and versatile dining culture

This year the Meissen State Porcelain Manufactory is showing a wide selection of new designs, traditional craftsmanship and elegant dining culture at its newly conceived stand.

The centre of a fair stand almost 2,400 square feet in size overall is formed by four walls, each bearing 200 plaster moulds laid out in a square format that attracts the visitor’s gaze. In cooperation with Canadian design and production workshop “Bocci” a high-profile installation was realized, comprising 70 Series “28” light spheres radiating from a panel over 45 feet long. Pope Francis blesses model of Peter the Apostle in Meissen porcelain

Figurine presented in Vatican with Fondazione Pro Musica e Arte Sacra

The Meissen Manufactory was able to present the Holy Father, Pope Francis, with a model of Peter the Apostle in Meissen porcelain in the Vatican on 24 January as a token of its particular esteem for sacred art. Meissen’s Chief Executive Officer Georg Nussdorfer handed the figurine over during a private meeting. Read more »

Chris Antemann in Taiwan for first time

It was a first in more than one sense. The American artist Chris Antemann, with whom Meissen has worked since back in 2011, is now showing her work in Taiwan for the first time. Her output of limited-edition pieces in Meissen porcelain has never before been presented in such fullness anywhere outside her home in the USA. Antemann epitomises a wholly distinctive approach to re-interpreting figures from the 18th century that transports the beholder into a world full of romantic and engrossing stories. Read more »

MEISSEN® with new design expertise

Otto Drögsler and Jörg Ehrlich working for Europe’s oldest Porcelain Manufactory

Germany’s oldest porcelain works, the Meissen Manufactory, has contracted experienced designer duo Otto Drögsler and Jörg Ehrlich to creatively manage, as well as to flesh out and implement, the corporate strategy recently adopted. In continuing the process begun last year of re-instituting design and authorship expertise at the company, the Manufactory is thus returning to a policy of in-house product development, albeit in a new form. MEISSEN® presents exclusive collection in Taiwan

Not one but two MEISSEN® porcelain painters set out their handicraft skills

There was a very special surprise in store for Taiwan’s large community of Meissen porcelain fans this year. In keeping with the annual tradition whereby, each May, a master-painter from the Meissen Manufactory sets out their handicraft skills in Taiwan, this year it was again the turn of Michael Andreas. This experienced porcelain painter, who is held in high esteem in Taiwan, came and showed what he is capable of, accompanied for the first time by his wife Bärbel Andreas, likewise a porcelain painter with no end of experience. MEISSEN® at AMBIENTE 2017: Manufactory presents new tableware service with richly varied patterns

Meissen is showing off new tableware for modern dining at this year’s Ambiente. The Meissen Manufactory is presenting its timeless, clean-lined Shape N° 41 at the Frankfurt fair as a gleaming white porcelain stage for four new patterns: Royal Blossom, Noble Blue, Swords and Stripes. They have been inspired by 300 and more years of Meissen history. Read more »

"Tradition and Innovation" - MEISSEN® Touring Exhibition in Japan

It was anticipated with excitement, and opened with great enthusiasm: a unique exhibition featuring works of MEISSEN PORCELAIN® exclusively for Takashimaya stores in Japan. The opening exhibition took place in Kyoto and was available to attend in Yokohama and Tokyo throughout September, as well as an exhibition in Osaka which concludes in March 2017. Read more »

MEISSEN® VERNISSAGE presents Limited-Edition Art Works for 2017

Debut for new tableware sets

At this year’s Vernissage, MEISSEN® is currently showcasing its limited-edition art works for the coming year. A total of 54 works in the 2017 collection are on display, including magnificent vases, sculptures and table decorations spanning 300 years of manufacturing history. The artists have used a combination of this rich history as well as archive material to redevelop pieces with innovative new designs. Read more »

Ian Davenport creates hand-painted plates at MEISSEN® in support of the South London Gallery’s education programmes

British abstract painter, Ian Davenport, known for his bold use of colour and unconventional painting processes, has created a series of hand-painted plates with the leading porcelain manufacturer Meissen. The plates, in a limited edition of 26 but each one of which is unique, are being made for the SLG Council, a group of art philanthropists who support the South London Gallery’s award-winning education programmes.  Read more »
