MEISSEN COUTURE déjeuner with tray

The MEISSEN® Manufactory nurtured the royal enjoyment of coffee with its very fine porcelain from early in the 18th century. A hundred years later the newly wealthy middle-classes were serving coffee in sumptuous services such as this masterpiece from 1814, designed by Johann Daniel Schöne (1767-1843). These days, elegant furniture, accessories and evening gowns are also part of the Manufactory's premium product range. Porcelain painter Anett Gerner had classy dresses in the "MEISSEN® Couture" collection in mind when appearing to cover the Biedermeier vessel with a precious gossamer fabric. She has composed a svelte lace pattern by applying the finest of brush-strokes and dots to a gently flowing pale-violet ground - a highly demanding form of painting that calls for a great deal of experience and skill. Each item in the set is elegantly bordered by a black band that stylishly rounds off this haute couture of porcelain.
