Augustus the Strong particularly appreciated the exotic, "Indian" floral motifs in his extensive collection. The contrast between red background color on the lid of the box and white porcelain on the lower part creates a new modernity. Luxuriantly stylized, the flowers here are also hand-painted and restaged by porcelain painter Victoria Schmidt.
