Among the cultures reflected in MEISSEN® porcelain, the world of Asia occupies a special place. With her hand-painted decoration on this limited edition bowl, porcelain painter Victoria Schmidt is clearly in the tradition of the filigree East Asian models. Depicted is the "green peacock" also called "spike-bearer peacock". A copy of a Japanese woodblock print, created by Wilhelm Wache, from the manufactory's archives served as a model. The painting playfully emphasizes the elegant sweep of the bowl's shape. The restrained two-tone color lends the artwork its inner coherence.
