The grace and colorful appearance of koi have always fascinated porcelain painter Horst Bretschneider during his various trips to Asia. Each of these fish is different in color and structure and thus a great inspiration for an artist. The combination of the different colors of the fish on the powerful, golden background of the limited edition bowl require many years of experience and special knowledge of porcelain painting.

Also, the extremely precious by today's standards Ippon Kohaku, imitating the national flag of Japan is present on this work of art. It is hard to imagine that this bowl is hand painted, the koi look so authentic, as if they were alive and swimming around in a pond.
