Lithe, gentle, almost hypnotizing, the whale shark moves through the water. An impressive encounter with the largest fish in the world during a snorkeling trip at the Ningaloo Reef in western Australia has been captured by the young MEISSEN sculptor Maximilian Hagstotz with the limited edition artwork "Whale Shark" in porcelain. The figure of the whale shark as the main element of the sculpture floats above everything as a large and calm form. Below him, as a counterweight to the calmness of the figure, Maximilian Hagstotz added the smallest abstracted schooling fish. The staffage in underglaze is particularly attractive. For the first time, the stingray, which the artist created in 2018, was hand-painted in underglaze for the decoration of a sculpture. Now, the 36 cm high work of art "Whale Shark" made of Meissen porcelain, limited to 25 copies, also impresses with this painting.
