The modern bowl of the MEISSEN^® Cosmopolitan dinner service combines the precious materials of Meissen porcelain and the precious metal gold. When Johann Friedrich invented the composition for hard porcelain, it was an achievement of unimaginable proportions. Meissen porcelain was also known as "white gold". This put Meissen porcelain on a par with real gold. The golden accents on the tableware still refer to this unique history today.
