Flock of Birds Wall Painting "Macaw and Ibis"

This extraordinary wall mural made of Meissen porcelain depicts a detail from the large-scale work "Bird Swarm," which was originally created from 72 individual porcelain panels. At the center are a macaw and an ibis, gliding through the open sky with their wings spread wide.

Particular attention should be paid to the masterful painting of the plumage. With the finest brushstrokes, individual feathers, their varying textures, and the vibrant colors of the two birds are brought to life. Shades of brilliant blue, turquoise, and green on the macaw stand in striking contrast to the warm orange, red, and cream tones of the ibis. Precise shading and flowing color transitions create a remarkable sense of lightness-it almost seems as though every feather is being carried by the air current.

The sky, too, is entirely hand-painted. An elaborate stippling technique produces a delicately iridescent, almost cloud-like surface that lends the background an extraordinary sense of naturalness and spatial depth. As a result, the birds appear to float freely in the boundless sky.

The mural not only captures a moment of flight but also conveys a sense of freedom, wanderlust, and new beginnings. The viewer's gaze follows the two birds out into the vast expanse-inviting them to join the birds on their journey for a moment.
