Excellence Knows No Compromise – once again, Glashütte Original and MEISSEN prove just that. The renowned watchmaker and the porcelain manufactory have long been united by a shared pursuit of perfection and a deep respect for craftsmanship. Their long-standing friendship between the two heritage brands has now paved the way for an extraordinary collaboration.
A Tale of Two Cities. Glashütte and Meissen – two places, two names, one shared legacy. For centuries, artistry, precision, and passion have been at the heart of both towns – in watchmaking as in porcelain art. In 2025, Glashütte Original celebrates 180 years of fine watchmaking, while MEISSEN, Europe’s first porcelain manufactory, looks back on 315 years of artistic mastery and cultural heritage. What unites these two houses goes beyond tradition: it is a deeply rooted understanding of excellence in every detail, timeless design, and masterful craftsmanship. From this partnership, three exceptional timepieces have emerged.
Art Captured in Time. Each Senator Meissen is a miniature masterpiece – an expression of the highest artisanal skill, encased in a 40-millimeter rose gold case. Its minimalist dial displays only hours and minutes – a deliberate reduction that serves beauty in two ways: it allows for an elegantly slim profile thanks to the flat in-house movement, and it places the hand-painted porcelain dial at the center of attention. The dials are made of ultra-thin MEISSEN porcelain. They are first fired at 1,400 °C – a process mastered by only a handful of manufacturers worldwide. Then follows the most intricate stage: the decoration, Roman numerals, and inscriptions are applied by hand, layer by layer, with the finest brushes – requiring utmost concentration and a steady hand. After each color layer, another firing at 900 °C ensures depth, luminosity, and permanence.
The result, after many hours of meticulous work, is a dial that not only measures time – but honors it.
The Senator Meissen models unite two worlds of mastery into a timepiece that brings together technology, aesthetics, and craftsmanship in their most refined form.
Porcelain Painting in Miniature. Three exceptional dial designs turn the new Senator Meissen into wearable works of art – each one a tribute to MEISSEN’s grand tradition of porcelain painting. The first, limited to 150 pieces, features the elegant Mystic Maison décor in soft gray on pristine white porcelain – a harmonious blend of lightness and iconic ornamentation.
The second interpretation also bears the Mystic Maison motif but presents it against a celadon-green background. The gentle, bluish-green hue lends the watch a calm, almost meditative aura. The third model is a true collector’s piece – only eight will be made. On a delicate celadon base unfolds a collage of floral and animal motifs, inspired by the legendary “Decor Worlds” of the Kratervase. Rendered in brilliant colors and with the finest brushstrokes, it creates a dreamlike scene of captivating depth and vibrancy.
Perfection in Every Detail. Beneath the artistically hand-painted MEISSEN porcelain dials beats the heart of Glashütte’s watchmaking excellence: the Caliber 36.
It unites traditional mechanics with modern precision and everyday reliability. With its bidirectional automatic winding system, silicon balance spring, and a power reserve of up to 100 hours, it meets the highest technical standards – robust, precise, and easy to operate. The integrated stop-seconds mechanism allows for exact time setting. Through the sapphire-crystal case back, the true work of art within is revealed: every component is meticulously hand-finished, mirroring the same aesthetic refinement that defines the dial. The signature Glashütte three-quarter plate features fine ribbing; the balance bridge is intricately hand-engraved; the winding chain bears a radiant sunburst finish. The skeletonized rotor, adorned with Glashütte Original’s double-G logo, is crafted from 21-karat gold. Even the smallest details display perfection – beveled and polished edges, heat-blued screws, and mirror-polished steel parts. The Senator Meissen models unite two worlds of mastery – the mechanical precision of Glashütte and the artistic expression of MEISSEN – into a timepiece that brings together technology, aesthetics, and craftsmanship in their most refined form.
The elaborately limited editions will be available starting October 9, 2025, in all Glashütte Original boutiques and selected retailers worldwide, as well as by request in MEISSEN Signature Stores.
