MEISSEN -
Discover the unexpected
  • Leave the grey winter months behind with MEISSEN and join us in a world full of fantastic porcelains, exotic decors, unexpected stories and enchanted places. In the 17th century, courageous sailors from the East India Trading Company embarked on an adventurous voyage and brought valuable porcelains from China with designs never seen before to Europe, where Augustus the Strong succumbed to the “maladie de porcelain” and founded the first European porcelain manufactory in 1710. Fascinated by the exotic fruits and blossoms, enchanting gardens and fabulous creatures, the manufactory created the first impressive shapes and decors based on East Asian models, which to this day invite the viewer to dream and transport him or her to a faraway, magnificent world. The cornerstone of Meissen’s design tradition to this day is the constant reflection on its own rich heritage, combined with a clear commitment to the present.

Full of symbolic power, the world-famous Ming Dragon shines in luminous purple on a wide variety of porcelains and has a magical effect as a symbol of light, supernatural wisdom and the spirit of change. The proud phoenix, which adorns the new mug and the Vide-Poche “Phoenix”, is also the subject of legends that tell of immortality or resurrection. Indian Flower Painting fascinates with intense colours and stylised motifs that express something mysterious and invite us to learn more about this enchanted world of flowers.

The home office has taken on a completely new meaning in the last year and has become the centre of many working days. Our porcelains want to take the daily grind out of work and provide new creative impulses through unusual decors. In this way, the home office grows into a personal oasis of inspiration.

Let MEISSEN surprise you - each porcelain tells its own story that will fascinate you. Meissen porcelain begins in the manufactory's own mould archive, the world's oldest and largest stock of model moulds with over 700,000 moulds, and is finally developed into a very individual, contemporary interpretation of European art and cultural history. The Crossed Swords hold a certain myth and are the oldest trademark in Europe. As a marker among the porcelains but also as a well-kept part of the decorations, they are imaginatively incorporated into the paintings. In this way, the Swords tell the story of the manufactory, as they have adapted to all eras over the course of time.

Take a little time out from everyday life with our "Far & Fantasy" porcelains and disappear into a fantastic world full of myths and unexpected stories.
