description
The New Delhi-based artist duo Thukral & Tagra, consisting of Jiten Thukral and Sumir Tagra, is among the internationally recognized figures in contemporary Indian art. Their work combines sculpture, design, and installation with social questions, pop culture, and symbolic visual worlds.

During their residency at the Meissen Art Campus, the artists developed a series of contemporary porcelain sculptures based on historic Meissen forms. A defining feature of these works is the deliberate incorporation of funnel-shaped kiln supports, originally technical elements used in the production process. Thukral & Tagra make these structures visible and reinterpret them as symbolic "loudspeakers" that project the message of the artwork outward.

This unique piece explores the human longing for orientation, departure, and personal growth. The imagery brought together on the vessel tells the story of an individual life journey and of the dreams that connect people regardless of origin or social background. A navigation device refers to the search for the right path and stands for finding one's way in a complex world.

The airplane depicted on the vessel symbolizes mobility, freedom, and the desire to discover new horizons. It represents departure, transformation, and the possibility of overcoming boundaries. A small angel adds a poetic dimension to this narrative. It embodies hope, confidence, and the idea of being accompanied along one's own path through life.

On the reverse of the vessel, a large hydrangea blossom unfolds. Its lush form, composed of numerous individual flowers, embodies growth, unfolding potential, and the diversity of human possibility. At the same time, the plant stands for care and the patient cultivation of future plans: dreams that, like a flower, need time to develop.
