Orchester Kuriosum Jay Tarro Boettger Stoneware

With "Orchester Kuriosum," MEISSEN artist Maria Walther has created an extraordinary world of figures in which human beings and musical instruments merge into fantastical characters. "Jay Tarro" embodies the powerful spirit of an electric guitar, combining musical expressiveness with a striking sculptural language.

The figurine is crafted from MEISSEN Böttger Stoneware, a material steeped in tradition and distinguished by its characteristic reddish-brown color and remarkable depth. Its warm, earthy appearance enhances the sculptural quality of "Jay Tarro," lending the figure a powerful, almost archaic presence. At the same time, contours, surfaces, and finely modeled details stand out with exceptional clarity.

Maria Walther drew inspiration from Asian mythologies in which fantastical beings are believed to possess the ability to animate objects. Within "Orchester Kuriosum," the individual qualities of each instrument are transformed into defining characteristics of the figures themselves. In "Jay Tarro," the dynamism, energy, and expressive force of the electric guitar are reflected directly in the design.

Bringing together contemporary art, musical inspiration, and MEISSEN's historic Boettger Stoneware, "Jay Tarro" is an exceptional collector's piece with a distinctive and unmistakable presence.
