MEISSEN Christmas Stories
#MagicalTraditions
  • The Christmas season is undoubtedly the most beautiful and magical time of the year. While life is full of challenges and changes, at the end of the year we always come to rest and enjoy the familiarity of our loved ones and traditions. The rituals of gathering for a traditional Christmas dinner, watching our favorite movies, singing our favorite carols, baking, snacking, Secret Santa, decorating and marveling - the processes that we experienced in our childhood and that still fill us with happiness and joy today - make up the whole.

At the same time, everyone has their own fantastic Christmas stories. After all, Christmas rituals vary all over the world, from region to region and even from household to household, and are as diverse as life itself. This year, we at MEISSEN want to dedicate ourselves to precisely this diversity and take a look into people's living rooms, where you can experience their Christmas customs and their little, magical, personal stories during this wonderful time of the year.

In Meißen, the Christmas season begins no later than December, when the sounds of the famous porcelain glockenspiel ring out over the market square, and every day until Christmas Eve, one of the 24 shutters of the town hall opens to reveal a little magical surprise. Family and friends gather at the Christmas Market to share this magical spectacle with their loved ones and look forward to the great feast.

The people here at the Manufacture are undoubtedly proud of their company, its history and its place in the world. They are also proud of every piece of white gold they have collected over the years. That's why many colleagues look forward to the Christmas season every year like little children, so that they can quietly transform their homes into a winter wonderland with all their beloved treasures of white gold and all sorts of home decorations, to the sound of their favorite Christmas carols. They unpack, rearrange, decorate, and decorate. This year they can fall back on our Christmas collection with the beautiful MEISSEN Christmas Star. And at the latest when it comes to the Advent wreath, we start to tinker - because for several years now there has been an Advent wreath from MEISSEN with a tinkering instruction. For most of us, minimalism is out of place here - because Christmas is the time when we like to decorate a bit more than usual. The more, the cozier!
„Every day in our lives should be a Christmas day, where we receive and distribute peace and joy.“
Theodor Storm
  • One of our colleagues is particularly enthusiastic: since he lives with his wife, who comes from the Ore Mountains, their favorite ritual is to arrange figurines and accessories made of porcelain together with the famous Ore Mountain folk art. They do it in a new way every year when the first symptoms of Christmas fever appear. A unique Christmas miracle, which combines not only two traditional crafts, but in this case, two people.
But for many, the greatest spectacle is decorating the Christmas tree. In anticipation of a living room filled with Christmas atmosphere, evoked by resinous fir scent and delicate light glow, as you remember from carefree childhood days, it is your greatest joy to make the Christmas tree as beautiful as possible. Our secret tip, so that the evergreen of the fir shines especially: Tree Decoration made of white gold!

Shortly before Christmas Eve, it is customary in the manufactory for the apprentices and a handful of colleagues to walk through the numerous corridors of the large manufactory with the Börner porcelain bells on the last working day before Christmas Eve. They loudly herald the good news of an early closing time for all employees. And then it can start, the highlight of Christmas: Christmas Eve - the time we spend together with our loved ones. During this time, the festively decorated table and the delicious gifts often become the focus of the get-together. In Meissen, as in many parts of Germany, potato salad and sausages or crispy Christmas duck are the classics when it comes to the holiday meal. Of course, the whole thing is served on the favorite service. Whether with the new "Lucky Dragon" decor on our popular "Vitruv" service or the dinner plates from our latest "NOVA" collection - everyone will find something here.

And like every year, we are looking forward to the coming weeks, until the big celebration. To the stories that we will experience, that will be told to us and that we can help to shape our white gold. For this we wish you a pleasant time before Christmas.
