#ilovemeissen
  • The passion for white gold was created more than 300 years ago, which from the very beginning brought forth a great deal of heart and passion for this unique, noble material. For years, the first porcelain experts searched for the formula of white gold and finally found it through fortunate circumstances in 1708 - the first European porcelain was invented. What followed was a veritable hype about this exclusive luxury item in Europe and soon after in the whole world. The enthusiasm for Meissen porcelain remains unbroken to this day and everyone associates their own fascinating story with MEISSEN - within the manufactory, in the city of Meissen, in Saxony and throughout the world. It is the love and dedication of each and every manufacturer that makes the MEISSEN brand a true "Lovemark". With the hashtag #ilovemeissen, we want to capture the enthusiasm for Meissen porcelain around the globe and create a framework in which everyone can share his or her personal, unique connection to MEISSEN.

For us at the manufactory, MEISSEN is more than just a job. For us, MEISSEN is pure passion and a part of our personality with which we identify and which has been constantly evolving for over 300 years. The fascination for the brand can be felt in every area of the company, from the production staff to our colleagues in customer service, the marketing and product management team and our store employees. When you walk through the corridors of the manufactory, the history and the wealth of ideas are close enough to touch. Behind every picture, every piece of porcelain and every employee, there is a very individual story that is worth telling. It is this interplay between the different divisions of the company that make the idea possible to evolve into the development and realisation of the finished product.

"I really appreciate that our products are honest and sustainable - a really important point in this day and age that we can be really proud of - especially since that has always been the case."
Maxi Riehe, Product Management
  • What fascinates us most are the captivating details, unique paintings and the wonderfully brilliant colours of the works of art made of Meissen porcelain. They make decorations seem almost real - "Like a bouquet of flowers you might reach for." It is precisely this expertise and skill of our manufactory workers, along with the quality and sustainability of the porcelain mass that make our manufactory so special and so highly valued. The skills for the complex production of these unique works of art are passed down from generation to generation and require many years of experience. Because ultimately it is precisely the handing down of traditions, expertise and enthusiasm for porcelain that makes MEISSEN the unique porcelain it still is today, after more than 300 years of history: craftsmanship of the highest quality.

For many, the different Meissen porcelains are like a window into another time, telling their own unique stories, from plates to figurines to wall paintngs, which connect and fascinate people. The great art is to connect the unique works of the epochs and bring them into the here and now. In this way, MEISSEN has seen itself as a mediator in society for centuries and creates bridges of communication that are to be continued and make MEISSEN so unique even today. In this way, new, boundary-pushing products are created again and again - also in collaboration with external artists or partners - which are inspired by Meissen's wealth of decoration and thus combine tradition and modernity in a very special way. But MEISSEN not only offers unique history, it also integrates it wonderfully into everyday life. Historical, magnificent works of art or excerpts from them can be found on modern coffee cups and plates. Thanks to their dishwasher-suitability, these are ideal for daily use and thus constantly adapt to the conditions of modern society. But socially relevant topics such as sustainability are also close to our hearts. For example, Meissen porcelain has always been manufactured at a single production site, and its longevity and durability counteract the fast-moving consumer society. And that is exactly why we love MEISSEN!

Now we are curious about your MEISSEN fascination and look forward with anticipation to your story. It can be so many things: Meissen porcelain as a memento of special occasions, loved ones, art, your passion for collecting, your unexpected gift, your enrichment in everyday life, your visit to MEISSEN or your sense of home. Share your story with us and tag your social media post or story with #ilovemeissen or send us your tale to our colleagues in customer service at service@meissen.com.
