MEISSEN X TAITTINGER #momentsofpleasure
  • No celebration without champagne! The sparkling drink is particularly popular at the turn of the year, but a good sip of champagne is also indispensable for weddings, birthdays or simply as an aperitif at a festive dinner party.
Champagne is considered to be the noblest of all drinks. Only sparkling wines that come from the French region of Champagne and are picked and pressed by hand, according to a traditional and strictly supervised process, are allowed to be called champagne. And unlike Prosecco, to which the carbonic acid is added at the end, in champagne the carbonic acid is created exclusively by fermentation in the bottle.
Thanks to this process, this noble drop was discovered in the first place. According to French lore, the wines from the Champagne region were bottled for shipping to England. However, the wine continued to ferment on the way and the bottles with the now sparkling content regularly exploded. The resulting drink was found to be extremely tasty and the process of bottle fermentation was cultivated. Finally, around 1700, the Benedictine monk Dom Pérignon invented the so-called agraffe, the braided wire frame that holds the cork on the bottle even under high pressure. By the way, Dom Pérignon also invented the common bottle capacity of 0.7 litres, which he had determined as the average amount consumed by male adults at an evening meal.

  • One of the most famous and largest wineries in Champagne is the TAITTINGER estate, which comprises over 35 cru sites that are among the best in the region. Moreover, TAITTINGER is one of the few French Champagne houses that is still family-owned. It is a special honour for us to present our new, luxurious champagne goblets made of Meissen porcelain for the first time in a collaboration with this history-rich house.

For the joint MEISSEN X TAITTINGER gift set, we have chosen the Champagne Brut Reservé, which is one of the icons of Champagne. Thanks to its high Chardonnay content of over 40%, it is characterised by a fresh taste with fine citrus and mineral notes. It is perfect both as a brilliant aperitif and as a light accompaniment to fish dishes, seafood and poultry.

But which is the right glass for the perfect drinking pleasure? Flat champagne bowl or slender flute? Bellied champagne tulip or white wine glass?

Now there is another option! Just in time for the start of the Christmas season, MEISSEN is launching its new, elegant-luxurious champagne goblets. The champagne goblets combine the advantages of their rivals made of glass: the slender shape prevents the invigorating bubbles from escaping too quickly, the high rim catches the noble wine aromas and at the same time is wide enough not to bump your nose on it. The porcelain material in turn ensures that the champagne stays cool and fresh.

The extremely thin-walled porcelain makes the goblets light and elegant to hold. The porcelain manufacturer's sword relief, which unobtrusively documents the luxurious origin of the MEISSEN champagne goblets, ensures a good feel.
Particularly noble: the inside of the goblets is covered with a layer of gold - either completely or just the base. This visually enhances the taste experience of the "liquid gold" in a unique way: the thousandfold reflections of the gently sparkling bubbles rising from the cup wall turn the drinking pleasure into a shimmering luxury experience.

Turn your Christmas into an unforgettable celebration for all the senses - to taste, smell, see and feel! Treat yourself and your loved ones to unique and passionate moments of pleasure at the highest level with MEISSEN x TAITTINGER.
