In 2021 Maria Walther dedicates herself to the twelve Chinese Zodiac Signs and places the legend at the centre of her sculptures made of Meissen porcelain. Legend has it that the Jade Emperor invited the entire animal kingdom to a great race across a river. The prize of the race was that the first twelve animals to cross the river would receive a place in the Chinese zodiac. Thus, the sculpture "Chinese Zodiac Rabbit" also shows the rabbit in motion - jumping out of a wave onto the other side of the river. The rabbit succeeded in reaching the opposite of the river in fourth place. Maria Walther's sculpture "Chinese Zodiac Rabbit" demonstrates how the MEISSEN artist artistically interprets new themes with dedication, always creating contemporary designs with deeper meaning.
