The "Chinese Zodiac Snake" figurine made of Meissen porcelain is all white, but its shape explores the possibilities of porcelain design. According to legend, the Jade Emperor held a race in which the first twelve animals to reach the opposite side of a river won a place in the Chinese zodiac. Everything pointed to the horse reaching the finish line as the sixth animal, but then the snake, which had previously hidden in the horse's hoof, appeared, frightened the horse and thus finished as the sixth animal. For this reason, the "Chinese Zodiac Snake" figurine, which is 11.5 cm high, embodies intelligence. With the "Chinese Zodiac Signs" collection, Maria Walther created twelve figurines with deep symbolic meaning. The sculptures by MEISSEN artist Maria Walther are as diverse as the history of the Meissen porcelain manufactory. MEISSEN - a very special gift.
