With its little paws, the beaver clings to the tip of an oversized pencil-apparently it has tampered with it itself. The massive pencil tip towers over the beaver and humorously raises the question: What is Spitzer up to?

Like "Nutpacker," the travel-loving squirrel with a backpack, Spitzer is part of a series of supporting characters based on Kästner's Conference of Animals. These characters originate from the artist's narrative imagery - small personalities that hint at scenes without defining them.

The figure is made of Böttger stoneware - a historic material developed by Johann Friedrich Böttger in the early 18th century. The warm, reddish-brown tone and finely crafted details give the beaver figure "Spitzer" a sculptural presence that is both playful and artistic.
