The MEISSEN cookbook #cookingwithmeissen
  • The most delicious food is only perfected by the plate on which it is served. Conversely, the most beautiful dinner service only shows its true value through the food that is celebrated on it. It is the symbiosis of lovingly prepared food and a beautifully arranged table that makes eating an unforgettable sensory experience.

Reflecting on the 300-year history of the manufactory, in which MEISSEN has left a lasting mark on European table culture with its table services, the presentation of a MEISSEN cookery book is not only a logical consequence, it is almost overdue. With the book "Cooking with MEISSEN“, the manufactory focuses for the first time on the food itself. Served, of course, on the finest Meissen porcelain ;-) .

The special feature of the MEISSEN cookbook: the selected recipes are all family recipes from people who work at the manufactory. From miners to porcelain painters, from catering staff to store managers: employees from all areas have submitted their recipes, some of which have been passed down from generation to generation for decades - just like the craftsmanship of porcelain production and painting itself.

As diverse and varied as the people who work at the manufactory are the recipes themselves. From delicious salads to tasty soups and exquisite main dishes to sweet desserts and cakes, everything is represented. Lovers of Indian food will find just as much inspiration as pasta fans, fish eaters will get their moneys worth as Asian gourmets. Of course, the traditional Saxon cuisine is not to be missed: Classics such as Saxon potato soup and Saxon meatballs are represented as well as curd rolls and the cheesecake-style speciality "Eierschecke".

"With their passion for handicrafts, the craftsmen and women are the body and soul of MEISSEN. Their devotion and enthusiasm make every piece of Meissen porcelain something very special. The same passion is reflected in a special way in this wonderful cookbook.“ Tillmann Blaschke, CEO
  • But "Cooking with MEISSEN" offers even so much more: in addition to culinary inspiration, you will also get to know the people behind the recipes and gain a little insight into their daily work.
Each author is briefly introduced in pictures and words.
The recipe and employee pages are supplemented by informative articles on the production of the porcelain, the history of the manufactory, and table etiquette that will introduce you to the intricacies of the perfect table arrangement.

According to the motto "The eye eats with you", the appropriate staging of the food is of course not to be missed. The lovingly detailed arrangements on the various dinner services from the Meissen porcelain manufactory provide unique inspiration for a perfectly laid table - whether for a party with lots of guests, lunch with the family or a romantic "dinner for two".
What about a fine wild mushroom cream soup in a swan service gourmet plate, arranged on a rustic wooden table? Or an exotic avocado-mango salad combined with the SWORDS service on a fine linen tablecloth? Or - with a view to the Christmas festivities - with baked duck in orange sauce with red cabbage and dumplings, served on NOBLE BLUE in a mix & match with ROYAL BLOSSOM?

"Cooking with MEISSEN" is thus more than just a simple cookbook: it is a plea for a holistic understanding of table & dining culture, for the connection of cooking and eating with an exquisitely arranged table. At the same time, it is a homage to the Saxon homeland, to the history and tradition of Europe's oldest porcelain manufactory and, last but not least, to the numerous employees of the manufactory who make MEISSEN something very special every day.

Join us on this unique culinary journey, where you will not only meet delicious food, but also the people of the manufactory and their unique work, which is part of the intangible cultural heritage.
We hope you enjoy reading, cooking and tasting - and also, of course, when giving this wonderful book away as a present, which should not be missed under any Christmas tree!
