description
The "Egg Cup Set" in white Meissen porcelain is part of the celebrated "Swan Service," which, with more than 2,200 individual pieces, is regarded as one of the largest and most significant dinner service ensembles in European art history. Commissioned in 1737 by Heinrich Count von Brühl-then Prime Minister under Augustus III and later Director General of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory-this landmark service was completed within five years. Never before had an ensemble of such scale and with such an opulent richness of sculptural decoration been created.
Each egg cup measures 7 cm (approximately 2.75 inches) in height. The distinctive, dynamic design language and the finely modeled relief details testify to masterful craftsmanship. Elaborately handcrafted, the pieces unite technical precision and artistic refinement in an impressive example of Baroque porcelain artistry from Meissen.
