The 7 cm high "egg cup set" made of white Meissen porcelain is part of the famous "Swan Service", which with over 2,200 porcelains is considered one of the largest and most extensive table services of all time. Commissioned in 1737 by Heinrich Graf von Brühl , then Prime Minister under August III and later Chief Director of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory, it took five years until the service was completed. Never before had an ensemble of this size and such opulent wealth of sculptural design been created. The "egg cup set" of the form "Swandessin" is one of the more than 2,200 unique pieces of the "Swan Service" made of Meissen porcelain.
