Meissen porcelain eggs are inspired by traditional Easter decorations. Moulded from the manufactory's porcelain, each egg is then painted by hand. The rounded shape and characteristic radiant white lustre offer the manufactory's porcelain painters a flawless, broad - albeit small-scale - surface on which to bring their miniature paintings to life. Applied en détail with delicate brushstrokes, the porcelain painters are able to capture the "Field Pansy" here in all of its natural glory in an artistic style inspired by the flower still lifes of the Biedermeier period - the golden age of naturalistic flower painting. Meissen's Easter egg collection features a wealth of designs that can be combined in a variety of ways, offering celebratory accents to spring bouquets and floral arrangements.
