Meissen porcelain eggs are inspired by traditional Easter decorations. Moulded from the manufactory's porcelain, each egg is then painted by hand. The rounded shape and characteristic radiant white lustre offer the manufactory's porcelain painters a flawless, broad - albeit small-scale - surface on which to bring their miniature paintings to life. Applied en détail with lively brushstrokes, the contemporary "Woodland Flora with Insects" design features motifs from native forests and meadows - liverwort, in this case - captured in flowy forms and pastel colours. The modern style was inspired by aquarelle paintings. Meissen's Easter egg collection features a wealth of designs that can be combined in a variety of ways, offering celebratory accents to spring bouquets and floral arrangements.
