MEISSEN x BOTEANICALS
#momentsofpleasure
  • It all begins in China, in the year 2737 BC. According to legend, the Chinese Emperor Shen Nung is boiling water under a tree to quench his thirst when a light wind blows a few leaves from the tree into the water. The water begins to smell aromatic. The emperor tries the drink and is delighted by the delicious taste. The tea is born.
Many people know the story of the origin of tea. But what most people do not know: All "real" tea varieties - black tea, green tea, white tea, oolong and Pu Erh tea - have their origin in the same tea plant: the "Camellia sinensis". The differences between the individual tea varieties are due to the way the leaves are processed: while white tea is only dried, green tea is first wilted in iron pans over a fire. Black tea, on the other hand, is rolled, which causes the leaf juice and oils to escape and "oxidise". Unlike teas from the tea tree, herbal and fruit teas are not "real" teas, but merely "tea-like infusions".

Tea came to Europe with the first ships of the Dutch East India Company at the beginning of the 17th century. Since then, however, tea has not only been appreciated as an invigorating hot drink, it has also found its way into our language through a multitude of sayings. The best-known saying in Germany is probably "just wait and drink tea", which is attributed to the healer Heinrich Ast (1848-1921). In English, one would say „wait and see“, what has roughly the same meaning. To make the wait as varied as possible, the young tea brand BOTEANICALS has set itself the task of creating new taste experiences thanks to unique combinations of ingredients.

With the joint gift set, MEISSEN x BOTEANICALS continue their collaboration launched in summer. The result is a wonderful fusion of high-quality design, sustainable production, centuries-old craftsmanship and luxurious drinking pleasure.
  • All teas are lovingly handmade in Germany, using only organic ingredients of the highest quality. The cultivation of teas is done according to fair, social and sustainable criteria. Grounding, stimulating or harmonising - each tea consists of three components: A tea variety as the base, a spice or flower as the "heart note" and a fruit as the "top note".

For the joint gift set with MEISSEN, tea creation No. 73 was chosen, which combines the noble character of the white tea Pai Mu Tan from China with the spicy-tart taste of Chilean cornflowers and the distinctive scent of the Italian citrus fruit bergamot to create a unique taste experience. The gift set is completed by the timeless MEISSEN mug, shape "Berlin". With its modern design, the brightness of the white porcelain and the world-famous crossed swords in relief, the mug adds an extra dose of sensual elegance to the enjoyment of tea. The duo is rounded off by its elegant packaging, which makes the set an exclusive gift for all tea lovers.
