Single Figurine Whale shark small

Majestic and almost weightless, the whale shark glides through the depths of the ocean. With its imposing presence and gentle movements, the world's largest fish embodies a fascinating combination of strength and perfect tranquility. An encounter with this peaceful giant at Ningaloo Reef off the west coast of Australia inspired Meissen sculptor Maximilian Hagstotz to create an extraordinary porcelain piece in 2020. Now he has reinterpreted his striking motif in a smaller, yet no less fascinating sculpture.

The whale shark appears to float weightlessly above a magnificently modeled coral landscape. Its powerful silhouette exudes calm and grandeur, while the vibrant diversity of the underwater world unfolds beneath it. Delicately crafted coral formations create a striking contrast to the clear, flowing form of this giant of the sea.

The naturalistic painting is particularly fascinating. The characteristic design, consisting of countless light-colored dots and fine lines, is applied with masterful craftsmanship. The radiant white porcelain of the corals underscores the sculpture's striking effect.

With this extraordinary creation, Maximilian Hagstotz captures a moment suspended between gentle movement and complete stillness. At the same time, he carries on the centuries-old tradition of Meissen porcelain art, in which the fascinating beauty of the seas has repeatedly inspired generations of artists to create new masterpieces.
