description
The "MEISSEN® x Wassily Kandinsky Edition" coffee mug is based on watercolor designs by Bauhaus artist Wassily Kandinsky for cups and plates, which have been in the Graphic Arts Collection of the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg, Halle (Saale) since the 1920s. The designs were created during Kandinsky's time in Russia in the course of his connections with the porcelain manufacturer MEISSEN® in St. Petersburg. The artist's estate included a cup and saucer bearing the mark of the crossed blue MEISSEN® swords. This leads to the assumption that Kandinsky intended to realize his designs in Germany with the MEISSEN® porcelain manufactory. Based on this cup, the Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt, Kunstmuseum Moritzburg, Halle (Saale) and Meissener Porzellanmanufaktur have agreed to realize the six designs for coffee mugs by the Bauhaus artist preserved in the museum's collection for the first time in their entirety in a high-quality edition 100 years after their creation on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus.
Here the coffee mug "Abstract form elements", motif 6.
