description
In 1753, MEISSEN's first model master, Johann Joachim Kaendler, humorously criticized court society: with his "Monkey Chapel" consisting of 21 hand-painted collectible figures, he held a mirror up to it. Just as the monkey as a motif, it was common in arts and crafts at the time.
The 21 figures of the new edition are still hand-painted today, after they have been assembled by hand. Thus, not only each monkey is unique in its appearance, but also each figure. Together they are a highlight, especially for collectible figure lovers. The "bass fiddler" and his colleagues embody centuries-old craftsmanship and the zeitgeist of over 270 years ago.
