description
Only with them does beautiful porcelain art become unique Meissen porcelain: The crossed swords in cobalt blue, Germany's oldest registered trademark, celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2022. On this occasion, the manufactory released a small special collection featuring various iconic artworks from Meissen's history, signed with the years 1722-2022 in gold lettering.
The individual figure "Amor with Shirt" is based on a sculpture by the artist Johann Pollak from 1880 and has been enhanced with the characteristic T-shirt as well as a special feature: on the back, the Albrechtsburg-the manufactory's first production site-adorns Amor's shirt. The front displays the Saxon coat of arms, from which, in 1722, the crossed swords were chosen to mark all Meissen products. At Amor's feet lie his arrows, stored in a small pouch, with which he spreads the Meissen brand across the world.
As early as the mid-18th century, Meissen figures sparked an unprecedented passion for collecting. Life at court, as well as the paintings of Watteau and Boucher, along with theater and opera, provided abundant inspiration for their design. But beyond their decorative appeal, they continue to fascinate collectors today with their subtle satire, hidden humor, and encoded messages.
