description
This finely crafted Meissen porcelain figure depicts Amor in an unusually contemplative moment: he holds a heart in his hand and looks at it with visible embarrassment. The scene conveys a delicate mood between uncertainty and inner reflection-a symbol of the complex emotions that often accompany love. Standing beside him is a small Amorette, tender and nude, covered only by an ivy leaf, with a quiver and arrows slung over her shoulder, hinting at the playful yet dangerous nature of love.

The design is by Heinrich Schwabe, one of the leading modelers at the Meissen porcelain manufactory at the end of the 19th century. Schwabe was known for his ability to express emotional and psychological depth in his figures. In "Amor in Embarrassment," he succeeds in sensitively portraying the human vulnerability behind the mythological figure of the god of love.

Putti, childlike embodiments of Amor, have been a central theme in Meissen porcelain art since the 18th century. They symbolize the many facets of love-from tender innocence to passionate intensity. This figure combines playful lightness with thoughtful seriousness.

The porcelain figure "Amor in Embarrassment" was traditionally handcrafted and meticulously hand-painted. Every detail-from Amor's finely modeled facial expression to the delicate rendering of the Amorette-was executed with great precision. At the Meissen manufactory, Bossierer carefully assemble such complex figures from numerous individual parts and finish them with fine tools. The result is a miniature sculpture of exceptional expressiveness and artistic refinement.
