description
This finely crafted Meissen porcelain figure depicts Amor, the god of love, in a tender and symbolically rich moment: he stands before an oversized heart, gently knocking-as if asking for entry. The scene is a poetic allegory for the beginning of love: that delicate moment when feelings are still uncertain, when courage, hope, and vulnerability exist in quiet tension.

The design comes from Heinrich Schwabe, one of the most prominent modelers of the Meissen porcelain manufactory at the end of the 19th century. Schwabe had a remarkable talent for transforming mythological figures into expressive, emotionally charged scenes. With "Amor Knocking on a Heart," he creates a subtle metaphor for the careful approach of two souls-marked by both restraint and determination.

Putti, or childlike representations of Amor, have been among the most beloved motifs in Meissen porcelain art since the 18th century. They allowed artists to explore themes of love, longing, and human relationships in playful yet often deeply meaningful ways. This particular figure follows in that tradition, while adding a quiet, contemplative dimension to it.

The piece is made from the finest Meissen porcelain, meticulously hand-painted, and stands at 17 cm tall-a small masterpiece of miniature sculpture. Every detail-from Amor's gentle knock to the lovingly modeled heart-reflects outstanding craftsmanship and artistic sensitivity. At the Meissen manufactory, such figures are carefully assembled by experienced Bossierer from numerous individual parts and then refined using specialized tools. The result is a work of art that combines technical precision with emotional depth-and tells a quiet, touching story about the tender beginnings of love.
