description
In the middle of the 18th century, the exceptional MEISSEN® designer Johann Joachim Kaendler designed the "Neuer Ausschnitt" dinner service, which includes this egg cup. The delicate shape of the dinnerware, reminiscent of flower petals, with a wavy lipped rim, is a rare example of baroque simplicity on which numerous hand-painted decorations have been implemented to this day. The "Indian painting" is one of the oldest decorations on MEISSEN® dinnerware and was used to decorate the new material as early as 1720. Based on the "Indian" painting of East Asian models, it is full of symbolic power, showing in stylized depictions of animals and plants the dream world of the Europeans of the Middle Kingdom. Gold-spiked and hand-painted with real gold rim along the base and the opening of the egg cup, the graphic purple decoration shines in sublime splendor.
