Khaled Al-Saai
“I wanted to bring my art to a different atmosphere, which has been used in the past in the history of Islamic art, in the Umayyad period. Always a new medium gives new aspects of art.”
Khaled Al Saai, born in Syria in 1970, lives and works in the United Arab Emirates. He studied Calligraphy at Istanbul and Painting at Damascus. He became a Master of Arts in 1997. Back in 1997 he was voted one of the ten best calligraphers in the world at the Festival of Calligraphy in Teheran.
His work, which ranges from the decorative to the innovative and in which he fashions fragments of script into compositional paintings, is to be found in museums and private collections. Khaled Al-Saai teaches Calligraphy in Michigan and runs worldwide calligraphy workshops.
