Flower tendrils, hummingbirds as well as parrots are decorated in the famous Meissen cobalt blue on the 38.5 cm high "Humming Birds" vase. The Meissen porcelain painter Ulrich Mehner created the imaginative motif on this Limited Masterwork after a design by Otto Eduard Voigt (1870-19). Painting with these so-called metal oxide colours requires the highest artistic skill from the porcelain painters. The colour is painted onto the still raw porcelain and only develops its brilliance after firing - corrections are then no longer possible. Despite the highest compositional challenge, MEISSEN always succeeds in giving the decor a unique expression with just one colour. The shape of the "Humming Birds" vase goes back to a Ludwig Zepner model from the mid-1960s.
