To mark the 300th anniversary of the death of Johann Friedrich Böttger, the inventor of the first European porcelain, MEISSEN has reissued a pot design from the founding period of the manufactory, crafted in "Jaspis porcelain", or "Böttger stoneware" - the historic material discovered in 1706, just two years before the invention of white porcelain. The carved, decorative latticework is based on original pieces from the Dresden Porcelain Collection. As early on as the beginning of the 18th century, glassmakers were cutting these patterns into Böttger ware, drawing on their centuries-old expertise. For the "Limited Edition 2019" collection, MEISSEN, true to tradition, collaborated with Lobmeyr, a traditional sixth generation glassmaker from Vienna founded in 1823.
