The 22 cm high figurine "Pelican" made of white Meissen porcelain by MEISSEN artist Peter Strang was created in 1965. The naturalistic depicted pelican with an open beak is the living representation of animal sculptures, which have a very long tradition in the Meissen porcelain manufactory. Since the founding of the manufactory in 1710, flora and fauna of the region and, in particular exotic regions have been inspiration for the MEISSEN artists. Asia in particular has always been very popular. The "Pelican" by Peter Strang is also an example of the varied world of figurines from MEISSEN and can be easily combined with the "MEISSEN Blue Treasures" dinner service due to the maritime theme.
