Heinz Werner - Arabian Nights. With his graphic and painterly décor designs from Arabian Nights, Heinz Werner, Meissen's Höroldt of the 20th century, transferred the magic of the Orient onto Meissen Porcelain^®. In 1966, when he first started developing his ideas, the artist could not know what great a success his oriental image programme was going to be. Every truly great Meissen décor programme, from Höroldt's chinoiseries all the way to Werner's Oriental fairy-tale world, is characterised by the fact that it lives, it keeps developing and changing, and will appear in new colours and constellations, depending on the form with which it is combined. And similar to Höroldt's chinoiseries, which were transferred into sculpture, Werner's scenes, too, undergo a metamorphosis into three dimensions. The vase designed in 1973/74 by Ludwig Zepner, with the crowning figurine group by Peter Strang, is an example of perfect cooperation between Meissen's artists - in the tradition of the old masters Höroldt and Kaendler.
