In 1897, the Berlin sculptor used this work of art to present for the first time the new influences that sporting exercise had on the female ideal of beauty from the end of the 18th century. His sculpture was the inspiration for the later "Tire Thrower", which was created twelve years later by the artist Reinhold Boeltzig.
