Limited Masterworks 2014 Snuff Box Seascape Painting

MEISSEN is known for perfectionist and extravagant craftsmanship. The limited edition tabatiere, for example, is hand-painted with an extremely fine and detailed "Sea Prospect Painting" on the lid. Rich gold shields frame the harbor scene, showing merchants alongside barrels and bales of goods. The hustle and bustle of a sailing ship harbor of the time is exceptionally lively, depicted in the fantasy landscape on the lid of the box. When opened, the tabatiere surprises with a rich still life of fruit on the hand-painted inside of the lid: a painting en miniature, made to shine by the interior of the box, completely lined with 24-karat gold. This box, the result of the best craftsmanship, is limited to 50 pieces.
