In 1996, on the cusp of the new millennium, the Meissen manufactory introduced its new "Meissen Waves" collection. After three years of artistic development, a new design for tableware and interior objects was created under the aegis of Meissen designer Sabine Wachs. As with all of the pieces in this series, Wachs brings a dynamic wave pattern to this candlestick. Building on the motif of waves, the top surfaces were decorated with a delicate relief - designed by Meissen sculptor Jörg Danielczyk - that recalls the rippling of waves of the ocean. With clear contours and the brilliance for which Meissen porcelain is famous, the pieces from the "Meissen Waves" collection bring an energetic, nautical touch to a wide variety of interiors.
